About Us

ARANJSEI Arakattalai is a registered NGO working for the welfare and development of Dalits community people, women, children, farmers, youth and sea shore people since inception. We are implementing various programmes like Organizing SHGs, JLGs, Farmers groups, skill development, child development, health & environment awareness programmes, youth festivals etc. for the upliftment of down trodden grass root community people. We are also conducting evening tuition centers in 5 villages with our own sources. We conduct various science programmes to the school students. Also we are conducting skill development programmes for rural omen on Tailoring, Embroidering, Aari work and garment work. We are doing these activities/programmes in 3 blocks of Thoothukudi district, Tamilnadu for the past 5 year from 2018.

We have reached about 2000 school students through our science programmes. Our programmes are child centered programmes. The children are provided with education materials, awareness on health, hygiene, environment, education, science, etc. They are also given moral education during our school programmes. We have strong tie up with schools and educational institutions.

We have also have good relationship with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) located in Thoothukudi district. The Scientist of ISRO are our main resource persons for our student’s science programmes.

The professors of Nearby colleges namely, Aathithanar College, VOC college, Kamaraj College etc. are also our resource persons and we have good rapport with these institutions for the past 5 years. Also we have possessed the following infrastructures like office building, training hall having capacity for 80 persons with canteen facility, training equipment, OHP, Audio visual tools, two wheelers and four wheeler (Jeep) etc.

Community Empowerment

ARANJSEI ARAKATTALAI organization is committed to the cause of poverty vulnerability reduction among the coastal poor communities with a focus on women and children. In order to achieve the goal the organization adopts the following three strategies:
1. Livelihood capacity building for the identified vulnerable communities
2. Social education for youth and children
3. Promoting community based efforts towards protecting the restoring the village common natural resources, environment and ecology.

Framework for Action

The organization has worked out the community development process keeping social education as the fundamental requirement. Education plays a key role in shaping one’s life and the future. The Socioeconomically discriminated and marginalized section women mainly Dalits, traditional fishing community and the most backward communities are the priority groups as the poverty vulnerability is found to be very high among them. The following Diagram 1 depicts the existing poverty cycle that affect the local coastal poor.

Training Need Assessment

The organization carried out a training need assessment by involving community leaders, women, and children. The topics, themes and methodology have been worked out based on the need assessment. The following Table 2 explains the various topics and themes of the training conducted for the beneficiaries.

HRD: Collaboration

The organization took series of efforts in identifying and establishing contacts with multiple agencies, institutions, organizations, HRD experts and consultants, for the successful implementation of the planned training programmes. The following Table 4 gives the details of those resource persons/institutes/agencies and their field of expertise.
